After a career spanning many decades and developing a reputation as one of Australia’s iconic winemakers, Julian Alcorso knew that retirement was approaching. So, six years ago he decided to take on one final project. His mission was to produce the best Tasmanian Riesling and Pinot Noir possible; wines of no compromise. Each year he worked with expert growers to produce select parcels of fruit from vines no less than 20 years old. The fruit was then vinified in a way that allowed the grapes to give up what they had; natural acidity, fine tannins, colour and without the need for fiddling or fining. The result is five vintages of exceptional wines. Each vintage of Alcorso wines will be aged for a minimum of 5 years prior to release. They have been crafted for long term cellaring and will continue to mature and evolve.
