The origins of Sloe Gin are in the United Kingdom where traditionally it was made from sloe berries picked from hedgerows. Those hedgerows have mostly disappeared over the last 70 years and commercially produced brands like Gordon's and Plymouth sloe gins are now made using sloes grown in Turkey and Slovenia. However, sloe berries also grow in profusion in northern Tasmania and for this gin were sourced from Evandale Orchard, making it uniquely Tasmanian.
