The Moorilla Pinot gris provides a balance between fruit, spice, mineral and wild fermentation funkiness. Great effort goes to crafting a wine of complexity and elegance; twenty percent is fermented wild, 40 per cent in old oak and two thirds is allowed extended contact with skins. The bouquet is reminiscent of the autumn harvest: apples, pears, dried grass and lemons. Flavours build in intensity. Texture, tannins and the natural acidity provide a structured Pinot gris. Serve with charcuterie or a parmesan cheese.

Moores Hill Vineyard
Moores Hill Estate is a boutique family operated wine producer located in the beautiful Tamar Valley, Tasmania; specialise in Estate grown single vineyard wines of depth, quality and personality. Our tiny vineyard is located on a beautiful north-east facing hillside near the sleepy town of Exeter. Established fifteen years ago, Moore’s Hill is an ideal location to plant grapes. The site is at 120m above sea level and is part of a ridge system that rings the valley floor below giving the site good aspect, elevation and drainage. As the crow flies we are five kilometres from the Tamar River and thirty kilometres from Bass Strait making us one of the coolest sites on the West Tamar; ideal for the slow and gentle ripening of our precious grapes. Tasmania possesses some of Australia’s true cool to cold climate wine regions. Moores Hill produces wines that reflect our unique climate. Our winters are cold, summers mild and our site experiences approximately 1150 heat degree days and around 700mm annual rainfall. The original vineyard was first planted in 1997 and today we have 4.9ha under vine of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and a very small amount of Cabernet and Merlot. Each block in our immaculately kept vineyard has a very specific microclimate that produces distinctive wines with personality and character.
