The grapes used to make this wine were hand picked from the Old Block at Coal Valley Vineyard. As often happens with a small vintage the smaller volumes were rewarded by high quality fruit with intense flavours. After harvest the grapes were de-stemmed then allowed to ferment in small batches of open vats with daily plunging to gently extract colour and tannins. After ferment and pressing the wine has been stored in French oak barrels. It is a deliciously complex Pinot Noir with ripe dark plum and dark cherry fruits. The palate is silky and generous with an earthy thread and good balance.
