A fitting tribute to Margaret Pooley, whose cellar door wine tastings would often extend to tea and scones at the kitchen table at the original Cooinda Vale Estate property. Many visitors returning to the cellar door today fondly reminisce about their time spent with Margaret, who passed away in 2010. For 20 years, Margaret was Australia's oldest winemaker, and together with her grandson Matthew, was part of Australia's only grandmother-grandson winemaking team. This wine is made from the oldest Riesling vines planted by Margaret in 1985. The barest hint of residual sugar graces this dry, sophisticated Riesling. Less than 100 cases produced. Made for cellaring. The wine has slight mineral characters on the palate, derived from the terroir and old age vines. Aromas offer delicate floral characters, the palate crisp and well structured showing subtle lime and lemon fruit up front, with a great mouth-feel and length. Drink now or with careful cellaring up to fifteen years for a great surprise.
