Made using the Saignee method to produce this wonderful Rosé. Saignee allows us to get a fruit drain directly from the Pinot Noir ferment, so it’s a full representation of that year’s Pinot Noir, but in Rosé form. Drained after 15 hours on skins directly to barrels (40%) and tank (60%) and then inoculated with a highly aromatic yeast strain. It was then lees stirred for introduction of it's highly desirable creamy compounds. Barrel portion aged (neutral oak, 4-5-year-old barrels) for 3 months. This entices lovely textured, softness and pallet diversity. Made from 100% Pinot Noir. Partially oak fermented and aged. This is a remarkably aromatic and seductive wine, framed by a creamy, textured palate. 100% Estate Grown.
The Jones Family received their first parcel of land in the Jordan Valley in 1818. Although the physical location has since changed, the Jones family have maintained their farming origins and six generations later, are still successfully farming the region.
After 20 years building a successful travel agency, Andrew and Karen were working hard and enjoying the corporate lifestyle, but something was missing. They started looking for an opportunity to slow down, try something new and slowly ease off the stress of running a large business. Around the same time, Andrew’s parents Sue and Phil were looking to sell the land and retire. A favourite saying in our family ‘life is all about timing’ and it seemed like this timing could not have been more perfect. Not wanting to see the farm leave the family, Andrew and Karen decided to purchase Invercarron and began running sheep and planting crops.
When Andrew first started working the farm, he ‘didn’t know the difference between a ewe (female) and a wether (male) sheep.’ Fast forward eight years and it’s like he’s been farming his whole life. However, you can take the man out of the business but you can’t take the business out of the man. Andrew, constantly looking to diversify and grow the farm, was looking for a new project and Invercarron Wines was born.
The first vines were planted in 2017. Three generations of the Jones’ rolled up their sleeves to chip in and help out. We decided to plant Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, due to the pristine cool-climate growing conditions in Southern Tasmania. Like our pioneering ancestors, Invercarron Wines is breaking new ground in the Jordan Valley to ensure the Jones legacy remains for many generations to come.
