With all vatting and marrying done in timber casks and non-chill filtered, this magnificent 15 year old whisky delivers enhanced flavour attributes highlighted by vanilla and citrus tones entwined by a calming softness, a reflection of time spent in premium American Oak. No colouring is added to the natural golden tones derived during maturation. A burnished copper glow provides a backdrop to the superb sensory experience to follow. The nose is then lead to typical tones of citrus, while the palate is seduced by a velvety wave of vanilla before slowly abating to a slow, mellow and toasty aftertaste.
In 1825, Henry Hellyer was one of the first European explorers to set foot in the rugged interior of North West Tasmania as chief surveyor of the Van Dieman's Land Company, carving a dirt road into the rugged wilderness with the most basic of tools. Almost 200 years later, his road now guides the way to the Hellyers Road Distillery in the town of Burnie. The Distillery’s casks are imported American Oak barrels that were previously the domicile of American whisky, providing a tried and true means of maturation appreciated by whisky connoisseurs around the globe.
