The Nant Distillery Bourbon Cask 43% - 500ml

The Nant Distillery Bourbon Cask 43% - 500ml

A soft sweetness can be enjoyed from the aroma to the palate and on to the finish. A highly accomplished and regarded Nant expression. Sharp and peppery flavours balanced with light honey & vanilla in the bouquet. The palate displays dark fruits and malted oats with vanilla notes from the bourbon cask clearly evident. This whisky finishes with touches of liquorice and maple syrup; it’s soft sugars compliment the medium to long finish.

The Nant Distillery

Located just an hour from Hobart is our heartland, the historic Nant Estate (circa 1821). Today it is the proud home to the Nant Distillery, producers of the internationally renowned Nant Single Malt Whisky. In 2012, just four years after beginning commercial production, Nant Single Malt Whisky was catapulted to global renown when Jim Murray, the world’s foremost whisky commentator, scored Nant Single Malt Whisky – American Oak Bourbon Wood 95.5 out of 100. This rarest of scores saw Nant rated among the top 50 whiskies in the world.

‘Nant’, meaning ‘stream’, was the name given by the first Welsh settlers to both the Valley and the Estate. This very stream meanders through Nant Estate and flows into the millpond; that powers the wheel that turns the stones that grist the malted barley – that also gives its name to Australia’s only Highland Single Malt Whisky. Both a source of power and a key ingredient in Nant’s success, these pristine waters trace their source upstream to the river Clyde, which is fed from a million-year-old glacial lake in the mystical Tasmanian Highlands.

Nant Estate sits higher in altitude than many of the famed Scottish distilleries. At sea level the whisky tends to ‘pump’ in and out of the timber at a much faster rate. At Nant Estate, over 1,000 feet above sea level, the whisky is drawn in and out at a much more considered rate; an effect that results in a more intense take up of the timber’s flavour and colour.
